“ This place is my go to bakery. As someone who has tried to maintain a low sugar diet over the years, it's been hard to resist leaving Chinatown without a bun from 101 Bakery recently. The quality is incredibly good - all the buns I've tried taste soft, fresh baked, and tender. My favorites are the coffee bun, all the taro buns I've tried (esp the one with mochi filling), the cranberry cream cheese bun, and the black sesame bun. The buns here go for around $2.50 each and are 100% worth it. ”
“ I managed to try their mini cake topped with a strawberry after a coworker brought them in to work. Not only are they cute to look at, but tasty! The bakery offers a diverse variety of chocolate dome-style cakes and other cupcake-sized cakes as well. ”

Both were great in satisfying my sweet tooth without being too heavy/sweet. Also, it was much more affordable than hitting the usual local chains like Tatte/Flour. Would stop again in the future. ”
“ I've been to this bakery 3 times during a weekend visit to boston. The bread is so soft & fresh, it just keeps you coming back for more! My favorites were the scallion pork floss roll & the pineapple bun with pork floss (what a genius combination)! The sliced hot dog scallion bread is also pretty good. Those are all 5/5! Black sesame, taro, & coconut bread were not bad either. The crustless sandwiches were not as good as I expected, especially for being $3 each. They had lots of bread and very thin fillings of pork floss, ham, eggs, & one slice of lettuce in between. Lots of mayo in them too. The only bun I would not get was the bbq pork bun-- it's probably the worst I've ever had. ”
“ So happy 101 has stayed open during this pandemic. I've stopped by multiple times in the past few months at different points in the day and while the selection varies (as it does when selling fresh bread), I'm never disappointed. The last time I went, I was only planning on buying 2 pork floss buns but the shopkeepers somehow convinced me to walk away with with 5 more buns than I planned, but I'm not complaining because they were all so delicious and I ended up sharing with my friends. Would definitely recommend their Red Bean, Pork Floss, and Sesame buns! Wanted to add on that the card minimum is $10, but it's definitely not a problem because it's definitely easy for me to walk away with over $10 worth of bread from here! ”
“ I just visited 101 this morning and got a few buns. May be because it's been long since I saw flavorful and authentic "Asian style" buns in America but everything looks so good. Pork floss buns, taro buns, red bean buns, Japanese custard buns, pineapple cake, etc. you name it. I tried the salted cheese cake, which is nothing like the American cheese cake version. It is less sweet, fluffy and has a chiffon like texture. It was quite good. My sister opted for the small pork floss bun instead and as she devoured the entire thing in a little over a minute, it must have been tasty. We also had the Taiwanese style pineapple cake for $2 , as I have been to Taiwan and tried multitude of pineapple cakes there, this one doesn't compare. But it wasn't bad either. The place takes cash and charges a fee for using credit card. There was a line but it moved quickly. Staffs were quick and efficient, not too friendly but that's not something I typically expect at authentic Asian establishments. Overall really good. ”
“ The 101 is a great little specialty bakery in Bostons Chinatown. They make beautiful cakes and pastries. Most of the cakes are topped with extra ordinary designs that are absolutely fabulous and all edible. They also make a few fabulous miniature breads with scallions etc. some have hot dogs inside just some fabulous very tasty small breads I always have to stop in and get at least one. The staff are very friendly. Unlike most of the bakeries in Chinatown this one has a few small tables to sit and enjoy your sweets. They also serve a number of specialty Asian drinks to pair with your pastry choice. Prices are decent about $6-7.00 for a small sweet and drink. I think this is a great deal for the quality. I give the 101 a Solid 4 Stars. ”
“ Wanted to get a bubble tea after getting some sushi in Avana! But kf tea was close so I decided to be a little adventurous and stopped by at this place. I got a taro milk tea small and I only paid $3 which was great! And it's wasn't bad as well. I think the taro milk tea tasted pretty good. Would love to try another beverage from them again. ”
